POLYGEL Can Help To Take This Mess Off Your HandsAnd Puts an End To Leaky Packages
Xymech is proud to announce the launching of POLYGEL super-absorbent sachets for the meat and poultry packaging industries. POLYGEL is a gel based super-absorbent sachet which absorbs all the unwanted blood and fluids from your packaging. POLYGEL is manufactured and distributed by Xymech.POLYGEL represents a scientific breakthrough improvement in perishable food packagingBy offering remarkably high retention of fluids, POLYGEL offers added product value:
Technically Speaking .POLYGEL sachets are made up off various heat-bonded plastic materials. Adhesives are not used in the manufacturing process. The smooth shiny surface of the sachet does not allow the passage of moisture. The other surface is made off a wickable fabric or a micro perforated plastic that attracts fluids. Inside the sachet cells is an inert super absorbent powder (FDA Approved), which forms a non-toxic gel as it absorbs and retains fluids. SafetyPOLYGEL sachets are completely safe when in contact with foodstuffs. The gel that forms as fluids are absorbed, is unpalatable and safe for consumption. The super-absorbent gel is American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved for use in the packaging of poultry and red meat. Environmental FriendlyPOLYGEL was developed to be environmental friendly. The Super-absorbent gel breaks down to water, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide after six weeks exposure to normal ultra-violet sunlight. The rest of the POLYGEL sachet is manufactured from Poly-propylene. Using POLYGEL super absorbent sachets
Physical CharacteristicsChemical Basis: Performance PropertiesTo test the performance of POLYGEL a prototype synthetic chicken fluid (SCF) containing the chloride salts of sodium, calcium, magnesium and iron were used. Tests have been conducted with POLYGEL using synthetic meat fluids (SCF) and with a 0.2 % saline solution. Data generated for POLYGEL Absorption/Retention performance is as follows.
Additionally, performance against pressure tests have been conducted comparing POLYGEL super-absorbent performance against a traditional absorbent material used in soaker pads, carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC). The pressure used for the test is 0.15 psi, or the average pressure 1 kg of meat would exert on the soaker pad. The competitive performance comparison of POLYGEL and CMC in SCF is as follows.
